Oleg Pozdnyakov: At the age of revolution, one shouldn't move at slow pace

Presently, there is à real revolution happening in the field of developing of solutions for automation of production facilities, control and financial activities. This is especially relevant for the oil and gas sector that has long ago strengthened its position on the world market. OILMARKET had an interview with Oleg Pozdnyakov who answered some questions concerning automation of the branch.

OILMARKET:What are the current pri­ority directions of your company's activities in the oil and gas sector? What project have you implemented in these latter days?

Oleg Pozdnyakov: For BrigRetail, the key priorities in the oil and gas sector are refineries and petrol stations networks. The list of the latest projects includes works for VikOil, Ukrtatnafta and Lukoil Ukraine. .

OILMARKET:According to your experi­ence, what trends in development and implementation of automated enterprise control systems are now the most relevant?

Oleg Pozdnyakov: The key trend of Ukrainian market is following the foreign companies. In other countries, automated systems have been used for 10 to 20 years already, but in Ukraine the top managers are only starting to use such solutions. The most relevant and popular are solutions provided by SAP.

OILMARKET: What are the mistakes the owners of oil and gas businesses should be warned about when tenders for implemen­tation of control systems for resources and finance are held?

Oleg Pozdnyakov: Many top managers of enterprises of the oil and gas sector face the following question: «Is it worth to pay so much for it and what results will we obtain?».Well, companies should clearly under­stand that if we provide the best automa­tion solutions (for example SAP solutions) and they are more expensive than solutions of other bidders, that does not mean that we «open mouth wide». We just offer a more functional solution that will allow to canalize the financial assets more efficient­ly in the longer term.

Here is an example: we offer a solution assuming usage of both SAP automation means and Primavera software package to a large enterprise on the oil and gas market. As far as we understand the tasks that will be solved at the facilities in future, we can see that the package should also include ties connecting the resources to a number of other equipment units. While our competitors just leave all these problems for the personnel to solve by themselves. As a result, our offer looks more expensive; however, in the long term, this «cheapening» will cost several times higher for the budget of the enterprise, not to mention wasted time and efforts. All SAP have large quantity of advan­tages, and when you spend some money now, you will certainly obtain some results in the nearest future (starting from speed­ing up the process and ending up with sav­ing some monetary assets).

In order to obtain some competitive advantages on such a saturated market of the oil and gas sector, top man­agers should also keep in mind the inexpediency of following the state-of-the-art informa­tional technologies at slow pace; automation of their busi­nesses should resemble revolu­tion, with introduction of changes into all the aspects of the business activities. These are the business realities we currently have.

OILMARKET: On 11 August, specialists from BrigRetail have undergone certification by SAP and gave obtained the Associate level confirming the high level of knowledge and skills that are required for successful imple­mentation and support of soft­ware products and solutions by SAP. What does it mean for your business and customers?

Oleg Pozdnyakov: The fact that the specialists from BrigRetail have obtained the SAP Associate certificate have, first of all, conformed the high proficiency of the consultants. Our employees have demon­strated that they possess wide experience in various projects, know the peculiarities of the business processes, and deeply understand SAP solutions. Such certification level have con­firmed the excellent under­standing of software, the ability to implement innovations and optimize solutions. After obtaining the certificates BrigRetail has gained a number of competitive advantages, namely: universally acknowl­edged quality assessment, showing up the company on the background of the saturat­ed market of IT specialists; access to the community of SAP specialists possessing the asso­ciate certification.

The confirmation of the proficiency of our employees, as well as assurance of the high quality consultancy services, are the key issues for out cus­tomers.

OILMARKET: On 10 September, BrigRetail has signed a partner agreement with SAP Ukraine regarding distribution of SAP software within the framework of SAP PartnerEdge programme. How does it extend your abilities in the field of consul­tancy services? What are the key priorities of your consulting activities?

Oleg Pozdnyakov:SAP PartnerEdge agreement allowed our company to add up SAP PartnerEdge status to SAP Service Partner; as a result, we obtained a possibility not only to implement SAP software products, but also to sell SAP software licenses, as well as to provide support serv­ices. The partnership within the framework of SAP PartnerEdge have provided a serious compet­itive advantage to our company, as far as a customer can get all the necessary services «at first hand» (consulting, licensing and support).For Ukrainian companies, the presence of SAP PartnerEdge partner status in the process of choosing SAP solutions is a landmark determining the profi­ciency of the specialists, the level of their technical and sec­toral expertise, presence of knowledge and skills regarding sales.

OILMARKET: What are the company's capabilities aimed at cooperation with customers outside of Ukraine, for example those from Kazakh­stan and other Central Asia states?

Oleg Pozdnyakov:Our team has some experience of cooperation with local Kazakh companies. We have success­fully implemented a project for Halyk Bank conjointly with SmartPoint, a consultancy specialist. We have also execut­ed projects aimed at implemen­tation of SAP outside of Russia, in Moldova and Azerbaijan.
